This one is for all the gentlemen and ladies who dress gentlemen or other men who dress men for that matter.
JEANS. More importantly, how thick the material is, or how it forms around the groinal region.
I am one that loves a thin jean material. It is not as scratchy, you do not get as hot, bla bla bla. But dudes, I make sure my cooch is not formed or that I have camel toe.
Dudes, you have a responsibility to make sure your jeans do not show off your penis. I am tired of walking around and seeing out lines of penis. And I am not talking about tight pants. Very baggy pants can have an unattractive bulge if the right undergarments are not worn. The real thin jeans can show everything off.
I am not a prude. I would like the idea of more naked dudes, just like our society has a fascination with naked chicks. I think our society has been bred to think the male body is not pretty. I disagree. But there is attractive showing off what you got, and then there is just silly. Wear a speedo or something, but jeans that show off your package in the oh-so wrong way has to go!

One of the classes I am taking this summer is a bible class. I have never really read the bible before and churches usually pick and choose a few verses and then pontificate on it. So I am truly becoming a bible buff.
What is so great about the Oxford Annotated Bible is that the editors try and give the best translation from the Greek and Hebrew. Kinda like Seamus Heaney tried to do a true translation of Beowulf and was really successful. What is interesting is how many words we do not know or have a translation for. Some translators just make up words to fill the void and to get across the meaning they want to.
I also laugh at how different translation just make things up. Add stuff that is not in the original writing. For example: Cain and Abel.
Today in class we looked at this story. First, in the original Greek and Hebrew (our professor knows both) it does not say that Cain’s offering was not good enough. It does not even say that god necessarily dislikes Cain’s offering just that he gives uber phrase to Abel. Many of the students in the class have their “own” version of the bible and we had several examples of how translations talk about how god did not favor Cain’s offering and that it was a bad offering or not as good as Abel.
Ah. The reasoning is that without Cain looking like a dope and not giving a good offering, it is highly suspicious of why god would not be pleased with Cain. It seems inequitable. And the real writings are. I just love when someone says in class, but my minister says… and out professors says, “can you not read? What does the text say?” It is amazing how people just blindly follow and do not ask or questions.
And a possible later blog: Abraham and Lot. Holly Cow!!
Preview: Many crazy Christians say that the Abraham story shows that gay people are bad. Well, the true connotation of the word translated as ‘know’ can me more than just sex. But even on the flip side. If you take the people of Sodam to actually want to have sex with the god like dudes (which is supposed to be Yahweh) then you have to take the whole story with face value. Having sex with your Dad is ok. Yes. Lot’s daughters have sex with hin (bet your priest did not read that to you) and it is ok. Incest is ok. Yao wee! Not in my book!

I was feeling a little down in the dumps yesterday because this weekend is my 4 day weekend of summer. Because of Washington State and Every Child Left Behind, I have to take even more classes this summer at the University. I am glad my Masters in Education was worth something…. NOT!
I had not been to the theater in ages, and heard really good things about Avenue Q. I went. Got some $28 tickets on the main floor of the Paramount Theater and they were awesome and close, just off to the left of center stage.
The musical is something else, catchy songs, adult in nature, but with a message and good topics. the puppeteers were amazing. I had not laughed so hard and out loud in a long time. Not a musical for little children, but up there with Phantom and Chicago in my view. It ends in Seattle today, but goes to Portland and some other stops too. Check it out if you are in NY. You will not be disappointed!

I was quite please last night. Weird distribution hand. Other pair opened with a weak two (I would just like to say I like playing strong 2s). Partner had opening count. I had close to opening (12 points). No fit in clubs, no fit in spades. Other team goes to 4 diamonds. I look at my hand. I am weak in spades with 3 and only 10 high. I have 1 diamond and it is the Ace. My 3 clubs are A, K, J and I have 9,8,7,6,5 in hearts. Partner supported the hearts at the 3 level and I say, what the hey. I bid 4 hearts and win. Partner had the A, K, J and the other team had the Q. It ruled. It was very risky, but 4 bid and made. It was quite a stir because the other team did not double, Joe whined and complained and the other table we had playing stopped to watch. I rule!

Last week I was standing at the bus stop, my principal pulled up and was talking to me, and I just cut her off yelling… “Oh my god… a Smart Car. That is my car I am going to get!”
When I was riding with my friends to a party, we saw 2 Smart Cars. One person yelled, Smart Car Black and then when we saw the other one I yelled, “Smart Car Green!”
Which then got us to thinking about the game you play when you see a VW Beetle (aka Bug). You yell slug bug and the color and “slug” the person next to you. Usually the slug is the person putting his/her hand in a fist and shoulder punching the person.
Well with the good old US of A restricting how many Smart Cars can be imported at one time in the US, we invented the Smart Slap. Same principle as the Slug Bug game. The first person to see a smart car yells Smart Car and then the base color of it and slaps the person next to them. So much more cooler than slug bug. At least I think so.
The good news on my smart car is that I now have an estimated date of delivery for my car. You might think Yahoooo! But the delivery date is estimated at Oct-Dec of 2009. Super big frowney face. That means I need to get the tires rotated on my current car, a CV boot replaced, and probably new brakes. Ug. More money to spend.
Just remember the phrase is, “Smart Car and color” then slap the person. And you are playing Smart Slap!

I am on a parenting role this week… or looking at the lack of parenting. Ok… if this parent is being charge with child endangerment, then again… allowing a son or daughter to be on a website he/she is not old enough to be on (and even participating) should also be grounds:
http://www.komonews.com/news/19643074.html
Now again… I am not necessarily agree with the authorities or the will of society, but I am going to point out the hypocrisies. A parent like Tina Meier is now being hailed as a hero in the face of tragedy. May be she is, and may be she is not. I am not here to argue that. What I am here to say is that in some cases, her actions… she willingly let her daughter into a website that she was not old enough to sign up for and no one batted an eye. This person thought she would teach her son a lesson in following the rules, and she is being called a criminal. What gives?

I had to call my mother and then my father last night. If I am to attend my brother’s wedding, they needed to know that if they caused any scenes, I would walk out… no questions asked.
My father had heard that I had become a reverend and the question, “would you marry gay people?” I told him of course… if I was asked. He let out a huge heavy sigh and said in a very disapproving way, “I thought so.”
He then proceeded to try and spout out his bigoted hate speech. I called him on it. Asked him if he thought that people who were not white were lesser or that there should be slavery or other bits. I told him he was a hypocrite.
Then he came back with the all encompassing “I love all people, I just hate their actions!” I am sorry crazy Christians, you can not love someone but despise of who they are. Oxymoron. You can not be against abortion and then call for capital punishment. If killing in one instance is a sin, it is in the other.
See what you people fail to realize is that being an evangelical does not mean you have the right to butt into other people’s business. It does not grant you the permission to be nosy and try to force your beliefs on someone. Cause in the end, if you do not believe in abortion, do not get one. If you do not believe in pre-martial sex, don’t do it. Though it is surprising how many people who spout that craziness have done so themselves. Especially if it is a second marriage. Ha!
See… what Christians fail to realize is that people are flawed. Remember the whole Adam and Eve and the apple? People can not be all-knowing and wise. They can interpret and they can be wrong. So Christians who say they have read the translated bible or their minister/priest have told them being gay is a sin, they can not judge or make those assertions because they can not know for sure they are wrong.
Did you know the current bible translations as we know them in all sects of Christianity are not the complete books? Really high up Jewish leaders have a bunch of the books the Catholics through out the first time they edited the bible. Many stories about “giants” and other races of people and other stories too. Also, the Vatican has a bunch of books hidden in their vaults when they did a second big purge of the bible. Actually, the Vatican has a bunch of documents and books kept hidden from society. What I would do to be able to steal those tons of documents and have researchers translate them. What knowledge is the Vatican holding that it has to hide away from the world. Same with the American Government.
Most rules and “laws” handed down from the churches are for political reasons rather than humanity reasons. That makes religion flawed and why people should not make judgment on others. Another examples: It was not always the case that catholic church leaders could not marry. What was happening in the 1500 was that bishops would given land to live on from the Vatican. When they died, the bishops would give this land to their sons instead of giving it back to the Vatican. So the pope decided to make it illegal for leaders to marry. Wow… word of God my foot.
Quit trying to hide your bigotry with words like… it is God’s word and I really do love people. You can say you love someone, but then when you put all your energy in hating them and oppressing them, then you just negated what you were saying.

Just the other day was the anniversary of the date when RFK was assassinated. It has become known in the history field as the trifecta of assassinations. First JFK, then MLK, and the RFK.
All of these murders were horrendous. But there was a huge difference with Bobby Kennedy’s murder. He was just starting. King and JFK had been doing their fights. They had already had huge impacts on society. Bobby was just beginning. How different our country would have been if he had been president. I know he would have won if he had not been killed. RFK had a spirit that seemed different than his brother. Still austere and grand, there was a little something more down to earth. I just feel he had great things to accomplish and they never even seen the light of day.
Because Bobby Kennedy had not become as huge in the public eye as his brother and Martin Luther King, many times he is forgotten about. But we should not forget about him. He had a vision and a drive, and we should all hope that people who choose to try and represent us will also see what he had and try and take on his ideals.

It is that time of year again. Graduates of all types are getting ready to walk down that isle of graduation. Ha ha. For high school people, there is no diploma. That will come in the middle of the summer in most cases. In fact… most of the grades are still not due into the registrar yet. Many people will walk in the ceremony, but still will not graduate (Thankx WASL and Every Child Left Behind). But that is a topic for anther day.
Besides prom, this is the most dangerous weekend for young adults. They are 18, want to party because they are going to be “officially” adult and they go and do something stupid. It will either get them killed or the school will refuse to let them participate in graduation or commencement activities.
I seem to be on a parent crusade this week. But I do not understand the adults who sanction beer parties at their homes for tons of almost grads. While I do think the alcohol age should be lower like in Germany… currently it is not in the states. At least if you can be killed by our government for fighting in wars, you should be able to drink. Again, but that is not the rules.
Now… I also for breaking the rules when necessary… or should I say bending the rules, or working around the rules. So applied to this situation, I have no problem with parents at home letting an offspring have a beer with dad watching the soccer game. I have not really seen any research on the effects of young people who have this experience and would not know it my self because my parents never smoked or drank. Ever! But it seems reasonable IN MOST circumstances. If young sally sue has just returned from drug rehab, then that is neglect by the parents.
What I do not understand are these parents (and sometimes groups of parents) who throw these keg parties for almost grads! To me there is a huge difference between an intelligent discussion with a mom saying that “we believe the drinking age should be lower so you may have one glass of wine with dinner and one beer if you are home watching a game,” and parents just saying “PARRRRTY” Lets get drunk.
There is no intelligent discussion. I think if you are going to go to that level, then get those parents and young adults and they can put that energy into changing the law.
If there are any 17-18 year olds getting ready to graduate, please do not do anything mortally stupid this weekend. Lay low. Bask in the fact you are an adult. And if you are not planning on going to college, make a plan and LEAVE HOME. Truly become a big person. I am tired of 30 year olds who have never left mommy or daddy.
